Supply chains are now being disrupted by a new problem – a glut of containers, and as shipping costs dive, profitability is again under question.
Question is, will this lead to a fall in shipping prices?

First in a while
Of course there is.
China is in CHAOS!
The deflation Tsunami is starting…..why would you say that prices cuts wont be coming
Production is static, just consumer demand has fallen….. big price cuts coming as the asset bubble implodes
Think I'll keep my eyes peeled for some containers going cheap aye bro
Chia-na builds one way containers.. they don’t want them back.
Thanks Martin
Somethings off here
Given that shipping containers can be made into tiny houses*, we may now have a solution to our housing problem. Then again it may not as this would require some creative and lateral thinking nationwide.
So Steve the bond king is right, he said this would start to happen I mean he gave us a good year of warnings but the slow down has truly begun, if the RBA lifts any higher it will busy the economy they are getting ahead of themselves now and people need to catch up … I'm not one I'm debt free but I know many now it's becoming a struggle
The Baltic Dry Index has dropped back to the mean as well.
No, the ports being clogged with empties was the problem the whole time. They tried running every ship full and that doesn't work
This is definately a signal.
👆 – HOT PHOTOS OF MY SISTER 😍😜g✅
The price of new contracts may have fallen, but until all the old contracts have expired don't expect prices to fall fast.
Always good info. Artie. Thankyou for your precious time
Maybe it’s time for another blockage in the Suez Canal, empty containers equate to no goods for sale, when countries don’t export the empty containers are from imports. The one way trade is self evident, the Chinese sell the containers and what’s inside.
Bullwhip effect
it's the result of government involvement into business . total mismatch
Good news. But what are all these people who blame inflation on "supply issues" going to blame it on now?
Convert the containers into houses for the homeless.
Dump the excess containers into the ocean and give the iron ore, mining and manufacturing industries a kick along
Just like leaving billions of dollars of war machinery in Afghanistan, Iraq etc etc
Good information as usual Martin. Interesting, I wonder if they will give containers away just to clear them.
This solves the Housing Crisis the Mainstream media has been harping on for months, they convert well to homes and if you what more space add another, problem solved.
Thanks Mr. Martin…excellent post…and an indication of future Political flavours.
So dropping ship containers means cheaper products ..🎉
Hello Martin,
How funny, feast then famine, for freight eh
All those excess containers can now home the homeless
Global demand slowdown confirmed. Watch for next stages: falling company profits, rising unemployment, uncertainty by central banks.
Shame the shops and other companies won't pass on the savings, they were quick to put prices up
This is just another example of Michael Burry's "bullwhip effect" … and an increase in the death of globalisation as consumers shop local.
We produce next to nothing to export back, ironically like the empty promises of politicians.
True but in the wrong places.
The key question is whether or not the decline in cargo shipping is going to continue after the Christmas spending frenzy is over?
And yet ppl still want $5k + for a 40ft second hand container
The whiplash effect.
If Shipping Containers are so cheap, maybe it will be economical now to turn them into apartments.
Containers full of excess body parts!
