Not to get all nuancy on ya but you have to do a bit of reading on Ukrainian history. Start with the Holodomor where 10s of millions of Ukrainians were killed, pushed from their land or starved to death by the Bolsheviks in the 30s. No fans of the Russians there. When Hitler invaded the USSR, the Ukraine looked at them as liberators and many joined them to fight the Russians. Would they have volunteered to fight the western allies? Not very likely as many had relatives living in North America. Also, after D Day, when the Germans started moving their divisions to France there were instances of the foreign Waffen SS units mutinying, collaborating with the French partisans and joining with the allies. History is hard, innit? Remember, the Finns at different times fought with and against the Nazis, too.

Giving these idiots the benefit of the doubt, I tried my best to come up with something…. I am an 'amateur historian.' I probably own 300 books on war and I have read at least that many more. So I have been trying to figure out who a Ukrainian WW2 veteran could have been fighting for, if he was fighting the Soviets. I tried to find some other unit that would give this government an 'out' but there isn't one. If Rota and Trudeau are stupid enough to let this guy into Parliament than they need to go. I'll give everyone on the other side of the floor a pass because they did not know the man was going to be there. Trudeau, Rota, Freeland, they all knew. So did the RCMP for that matter. This gives credit to my idea that when Poilievre wins the next election, he has to say, "Find me the RCMP sergeant who has absolutely no ties of any kind to any political party." And when that man comes to his office, Poilievre needs to say, "You are now the commandant of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. You will accept ZERO interference from ANY political party. If he fought the Russians during WWII, he was fighting against our ALLIES during that war. By definition he was fighting for the Nazis. That means that the pretend outrage from the likes of the Conservatives (whom I prefer vastly to Trudeau) is hard to take. Surely Poilievre et al heard the Speaker talk about how this 'hero' fought against the Russians during WWII. So again, they heard that he was fighting against our WWII ally without whom WWII outcome might have been very bad for the West! So it was self-evident… they still gave him a standing ovation. But later, they tried to hide behind the notion that the Speaker should never have allowed this guy into the Parliament. Anyone with two ears knew who this guy was from the very outset of his being fêted. Once again, Canada give the world more reason to consider our country as a backwater and once again, we've been embarrassed on the world stage by Trudeau et al, and this time he didn't even have to travel.

As a Canadian who's grandfather fought the Nazis, and I to fought for Russia as a PMC in the 2nd Chechen war, plus my son-inlaw is fighting Zelensky's Ukrainian Nazis this is a absolute embarrassment and I find the Canadian government to be absolutely disgusting.
