– This is a flagrant lie. The USA deliberately antagonised and bullied Japan economically, in the lead up to WW2. Much as it’s doing today with China. Bc of what the USA could stand to gain from having wars. The USA sat by and watched for 2 and 1/4 years of WW2, while Britain virtually stood alone, against Germany and Japan. The USA obviously wanted Britain to be at the whim and mercy of the USA. There’s nothing strange about that, everyone wanted a piece of the British Empire, as it had grown stagnant and brittle.
The industrial and financial might of the USA in WW2, was about 10 times more than the whole of Europe combined, maybe even more and potentially, certainly a lot more.
Europe has very little Oil and Gas, which is why Britain concentrated, on securing access to Iraq, in WW1. Britain would’ve lost its Empire then, if it hadn’t done this and defeated Turkey.
The bi product was Britain’s growing interest in Palestine, to secure the transport routes from Iraq to the Mediterranean and as a buffer, to protect the flank of the Suez canal.

– In wars no one really wins, it’s just a question of who loses the least. In proportion to what they can afford to lose.
Remember that the USA and NATO aren’t even at war yet technically. You can’t lose a war that you haven’t even entered. So far this is Ukraine, a poor 2nd world country against Russia, supposedly the 3rd greatest power in the world, in the Colonel’s mind and yet Russia is struggling even against Ukraine. What chance would Russia have in a conventional war against the whole of NATO and other Allies? Virtually no chance at all.
Just remember this, the real war hasn’t even begun. The whole purpose of the Ukraine war is just to weaken Russia a bit before the real war starts. Ukraine is just a meat shield. But a lot does depend on it, mainly the Unity or dissolution of NATO that could happen if Russia has control over Europe’s Oil and Gas supply lines. That’s what this whole game is really about, NATO.
I think the Colonel knows this but he’s writing off the west before the fight has happened and painted a lovely rosey picture of Russia winning and the USA just walking away and everything will be hunky dory, if only that possibility was on the table, sadly that won’t be allowed to happen, human nature pride and greed is sure to stop this, that’s the one thing we can guarantee as History teaches.
The one thing I agree with the Colonel about, is that he doesn’t know what the weather will do over winter.
But as a high ranking military man, he really ought to have heard of the jet stream high in the atmosphere. The further north it is, the warmer the weather, the further south the jet stream is, the colder the weather. The trouble is meteorologists can only see so far into to the future and that’s not very far. As the atmosphere is a highly changeable and unpredictable thing. The meteorologists get things wrong more than they get things right. Bc they make broad generalisations that are subject to local conditions and numerous factors. They also lie to sound confident, otherwise no one would listen to them. At best they’re about as good as horoscopes. But the consequences can prove to be decisive. Remember the 1987 hurricane when Michael Fish, Britain’s top weatherman said categorically there wasn’t going to be a hurricane?
Sometimes the weather people also lie for economic reasons, isn’t it funny how every bank holiday the forecast is sunny, yet most turn out rainy? The same for weekend forecasts, they’re nearly always sunny but don’t live up to expectations.
The problem also is that there’s many shades of weather, in between good and bad and it’s a very fine line that decides it one way or tother.
The same can be said for wars.
