Jeremy Corbyn on Freeing Julian Assange, the Working Class, Brazil, Peru & Ending Ukraine War

In Washington, D.C., human rights and free speech advocates gather today for the Belmarsh Tribunal, focused on the imprisonment of WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange. Assange has been languishing for close to four years in the harsh Belmarsh prison in London while appealing extradition to the United States on espionage charges. If convicted, Assange could face up to 175 years in jail for publishing documents that exposed war crimes in Iraq and Afghanistan. Five major news organizations that once partnered with WikiLeaks recently called on the Biden administration to drop charges against Assange. We speak to British MP and former Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn, who is in Washington, D.C., to participate in the Belmarsh Tribunal, about Assange and freedom of the press. We also cover the state of leftism around the globe, from labor rights in the U.K. and Europe to the war in Ukraine, to political unrest in Brazil and Peru.

  1. We shouldnt be pleading with a corrupt government to free an innocent man. Take down the corrupt government. This doesnt require a lot of faux intellectual speech. The issue isnt about journalism or really about free speech in Julian's case. Its about revealing corruption.

  2. QUESTION to JEREMY CORBAN

DIGITAL IDS. And Automatic cancelling of Your Bank Access

The British Government has put a Public Consultation on the Digital IDs, on their Govt Website.  It's been there since New Year and ends early March
When it goes to secondary Legislation.

JEREMY must know about this, JULIAN is a distraction

Eventually, everything you want to access, a job,  a rental property, a loan, will need that Digital ID.    It is too much power for any government to be able to use automation to cut off your Bank Access and your civilian access to services just because you don't agree with their opinions.

  3. That's ridiculous 175years it's stupid he is sick old enough who in the hell is going to live that long anyway. He should be free right now. Where is the freedom that united states clam to spread all over the world. Is a shame , every body in the world knows the truth about all the war crimes committed by united states all over the world. They cannot hide no more

  4. PUBLISHING WAR CRIMES IS NOT A CRIME, BUT THE ONES WHO COMMITTED THEM ARE. IMAGINE THE 5 AFRICAN AMERICAN POLICEMEN BEATEN TO DEATH ONE OF THEIR KIND A FEW DAYS AGO COMING OUT AND CHARGING THE REPORTER FOR EXPOSING THEIR CRIME. ONLY IN AMERICA. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

  5. You make a better argument on the basis of national sovereignty than on free speech. You don’t owe the U.S. anything. Since the left embraced prosecution of speech crimes, all moral authority is lost. Hard to believe a modern lefty can say “free speech” with a straight face.
