Unless the U.S. is ready to send troops into Russia, sending a total of just 45 tanks manned by Ukrainians is suicide.
The thing is, Russia has a Dead Hand System, an automated Armageddon System if you will. If the west would somehow managed to slip in a nuke and take out Moscow, that would be it, curtain call for humanity. There would be no way of stopping the automated launch of every nuclear device in Russia's inventory.
